Description

This hands-on advanced workshop moves technical professionals beyond autocomplete into the full power of GitHub Copilot: precision context engineering, autonomous agentic workflows, AI-assisted code quality at scale, intelligent test generation, collaborative GitHub.com workflows, and organizational governance. Participants work in VS Code with their own codebases or provided lab materials throughout the day, applying each capability to real work before moving to the next. The course is positioned as the advanced tier of the GitHub Copilot series (LF-155xx), and is the recommended next step after participants have basic Copilot experience. It also prepares participants for the GitHub Copilot Certification (GH-003) — a domain-alignment appendix maps every module to its relevant exam domains, though the primary framing is practical capability, not test preparation.

Who This Course Is For

  • Technical professionals with basic GitHub Copilot experience (code completion, simple chat)
  • Software developers, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and technical leads
  • Technical writers and developer advocates who produce code-adjacent content
  • Team leads responsible for AI tool adoption and governance

What You Will Learn

  • Design and apply precision context architecture in GitHub Copilot — including custom instructions, model selection, and workspace-scoped queries — to consistently produce high-quality, relevant AI output across complex codebases.
  • Execute complex development workflows using GitHub Copilot Agent Mode and the GitHub Coding Agent, maintaining appropriate human oversight at high-stakes decision points and partitioning work between autonomous execution and manual effort.
  • Apply GitHub Copilot to improve code quality at scale — conducting structured reviews, executing multi-file refactoring, and generating comprehensive test suites — producing reliable, maintainable output that meets team standards.
  • Apply GitHub Copilot within collaborative GitHub.com workflows and configure organizational policies for responsible, governed Copilot adoption at the team and organization level.

Course Outline
