The decisions this course helps you make
A convincing AI demonstration is only the start of a leadership decision. This foundation course develops the judgment to examine what is proposed, what the evidence supports, who may be affected, and who has authority to act.
Work through prepared business cases, compare a credible alternative, and finish with your own recommendation on a different proposal. The course supplies the cases and reference materials; no live AI tool is needed.
Who should attend
- Leaders who propose, sponsor, approve, or supervise work involving AI.
- Executives, functional leaders, managers, and finance leaders preparing for a role pathway in the series.
Before the course
- Experience making or recommending business decisions within a defined area of responsibility.
- Ability to read a short case with simple cost and quality tables.
- No prior AI training, programming, vendor account, or pre-course preparation is required.
What you will practice
- Explain what a proposed AI use would do and who would act on its output.
- Check a supplied AI output against its supporting information.
- Compare the proposal with a credible alternative serving the same purpose.
- Consider effects on customers, staff, and other affected people.
- Recommend a next step and send the decision to its authorized owner.
- Escalate an unresolved concern with the information its recipient needs.
Course outline
From the first judgment to a defensible decision
AI capability and output evidence
Classify what a proposal asks AI to do and check a sample output against supplied sources.
Opportunity, alternatives, and impacts
Compare options on a common purpose, consider affected people, and identify questions needing more information.
Decision routing and escalation
Use a policy and authority extract to recommend a next step and route a concern.
Use-case decision brief
Bring the work together in an individual recommendation on a different supplied case.
Practice and participant work
Worked examples and guided practice lead to an individual decision brief. Participants receive the task instructions, rules about permitted materials, and assessment criteria in advance. Each brief is saved before the debrief; feedback addresses the reasoning and choice of decision owner.
Participant work: An individual recommendation on an AI proposal, with supporting information, the responsible decision-maker, and an escalation route.
Delivery and tailoring
Live instruction is available in person or virtually. Prepared case materials support the exercises, with explanations, discussion, and feedback. The curriculum does not depend on one technology provider.
Tailoring can incorporate your approved strategy, policies, role names, and reporting conventions after consultation. Discuss your audience, scheduling, and preparation needs with Learn Flourish.
